The writer’s block

For those na nawawalan ng heart (gana) at “moment” na sumulat, don’t be disheartened. Lahat naman dumadaan diyan, kahit ako. We are artists kasi, hindi kasi trabaho kundi passion, vocation ang writing for us. Kaya some of them appeared as “hilaw” or recycled fro…m previous novels. Mediocre rate.

As artists, we don’t work that way.

And surely we don’t want that to happen sa mga works natin di ba? Try to get as much stimuli as you can. Read books. Watch movies and series (I suggest to veer away from Asianovelas for now, ok). Kung kaya ninyo, try to watch old movies, local and foreign. Listen to music. Go out.

Let’s lift each others up, okay sissies?

Kaya natin to! AJA!

It Takes a Man and a Woman : MOVIE SPOILERS and HIGHLIGHTS

***SPOILER ALERT***

Done watching IT TAKES A MAN AND A WOMAN.

2. I appreciate Sarah Geronimo‘s great improvement as an actress. Sure, her acting in this movie still won’t earn her an award (except for another BOX OFFICE QUEEN, I guess), but I loooove her transformation. I think Sarah G is taking her career seriously, she has improved tremendously as a performer, now as an actress naman. “Wow, big word!” line? Classic! Hahahaha

3. Naiyak ako when John Lloyd was trying to win Sarah back sa movie — kung paano siya nakiusap na patawarin siya ni Sarah. Pero naiintindihan ko din si Sarah or si Laida, simply because pareho kaming magmahal — all out and uber FAITHFUL.

4. Ang pinakagusto ko ang ZOILA and friends – ito ung TRIO tandem nina Gio Alvarez, Joross and Matet. Winner!

5. I love the scene when Sarah was flipping the pages of a magazine, deny to death na nagseselos pero napilas ang isang page sa panggigigil. Funny, that one!

6. Everything about the wedding, I super love love. Save for the crappy wedding vows, lahat perfect. The frivolous set-up of the church, the wedding gown and that of the sponsors, lahat-lahat sa wedding. Bummer! I guess, maghihintay pa tayo nang matagal bago mabinyagan ang labi ni Popstar Princess on the big screen.

7. All in all, hindi ang kilig factor ang naalala ko sa movie but the hearty laughter and the falling of tears galore sa ilang eksena.

Kung panonoorin ko ba ulit? Oo naman, the problem is, wala na akong budget 😦

SIYEMPRE!

I Love You…Always and Forever

Why is it that everytime I think of you, I always have this urge to cry? Can’t believe I am still feeling the pain ’til now, the pain is so raw; the longing so agonizing 😥

I miss you so much it hurts, by hurt, I mean the pain is killing me…
Yet, when I look at how far you’ve been and how successfully you’ve found your place under the vast sun, I feel great. I feel so happy, proud…

I love you, I guess all these years, nothing changed at all. No matter how hard I fool myself, I just can’t stop loving you.

I love you, I honestly do. I always have, I always will…

Seattles Best Coffee @SM Megamall – POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Just remember a bad experience from Seattles Best Coffee in SM Megamall (along MegaStrip) last Monday, Feb 04, 2013. The entire crew – from the utility guy, to the guards and bartenders were all rude. Plus the fact that even if we’re not done and ready to leave, the spotlight on our table was put down, while they let the other diners (from other tables) linger. Given that we maybe a bit loud (with chickahan galore) and all but if we as much created disturbance especially to other diners, they could have asked us to tone down and we’d gladly adhere. They need not rudely treated us so we’d be forced to leave. If anyone happens to know Jayson Raymundo (that’s the name of the branch manager according to one crew member), kindly ask him to re-orient his crew a thing or two about CUSTOMER SERVICE.

We opted not to talk to the manager on duty because she should know what her people are doing at the time she’s there to supervise, right? Who knows if the instruction to turn the light off on our table did actually come from her?

If you happen to drop by Megamall and need to grab a cup of coffee or a blended one, PLEASE DO NOT PATRONIZE SEATTLES BEST in MEGAMALL! Poor, pathetic customer service! I hope this rant would reach the powers that be at Seattles Best Philippines! Thank you!

Caramoan Trip Tips

caramoan

1. Check with any Caramoan local if  Survivor is currently shooting. If there’s a current Survivor shoot, you won’t be able to go island hopping to nearby spots.

2. Check if island hopping will be a short trip or a long trip. (March 2012 boat prices as per Kuya Ramil – 2500 long trip, 1500 short trip; the boat I think could accommodate 6 passengers). Apart from the boat rent being high, you would sorely miss all those nearby spots, too (relative to no.1 post) . Please use this website as reference to those islands. I do not own that website. http://www.pinoytravelfreak.com/2011/11/caramoan-island-hopping-short-trip.html (short trip) and http://www.pinoytravelfreak.com/2012/03/caramoan-island-hopping-long-trip.html (long trip).

3. Ask the inn you would be staying if it’s in the town proper or in Paniman Beach. If you are to stay at inns in the town proper, you have to at least take a 30-min or less trip to Paniman beach, the jump-off point in island hopping. Being able to dip in the nearby beach is an added perk in staying at Paniman Beach.

4. There is a two-hour trip from Naga to Sabang port. Another two-hour boat ride from Sabang Port to Guijalo Port (Caramoan). At Guijalo Port, around 45-min to an hour trip to Paniman Beach. So please make neccassary travel adjustments (inline with your flight schedule).

5. Earliest boat trip from Sabang to Guijalo Port is 7AM, interval of two hours for succeeding trips. Last time we went there, last trip from Sabang to Guijalo is 1PM. From Guijalo Port to Sabang, earliest is 8AM. I forgot what time the last boat trip is from Guijalo Port. So make sure you don’t schedule your flight to Manila earlier than 1PM (assuming you will take all the earliest trips from Caramoan; CamSur’s airport is in Pili, not in Naga).

<Naga (2 hour jeep or FX van trip) — Sabang Port (2 hour boat ride) — Guijalo Port>

6. If you would be travelling in group, I suggest you don’t take any package tour. Caramoan is backpacker friendly so make it a DIY trip!

7. SUN and GLOBE don’t have signal in Caramoan, so bring a SMART sim with you. (March 2012 was the date we’re there, I am not certain if signals for Sun and Globe have already improved)

Note : We stayed at Kuya Ramil’s house (300/pax/night) who happens to own several boats for island hopping. Contact number : 0907-4351962

When was the last time you cried?

It’s when nothing seemed right, when you feel nothing but pain. It’s when the ache in your heart just won’t go away and your spirit is crushed into smithereens. It’s when everything seemed overwhelming and unbearable that you wanted to be simply mad and scream from the top of your lungs. Yet, you just couldn’t because you feel all so tired and all you could do is walk away, sit at a corner and cry…

Laughter they say is a good medicine but I much prefer to cry. I laugh a lot, I joke around, fun is the name of my game and humor becomes me. But I find some solace, some strength whenever I cry. I feel like I am being cleansed and my spirit being pumped up when I first taste that salty liquid called “tear” that flows in continuous motion like it never wanted to end. I cry…cry a lot at that. Then I would tell myself “I’ll be okay. Janis, you’ll get by…”

E-pub/E-book and Kindle in the Philippines

The Bookworms Realm Publishing made it possible for Pinoys to read books on the go. Without the hassle of bringing an actual book, about anyone could read Tagalog pocketbooks o their laptops, tablets, cellphones and other e-readers.
