My fear for JESSICA SANCHEZ!!!

Riding on the hype about Jessica Sanchez’ latest performance in American Idol. She did great if not totally awesome. Come on, let’s all be real, ask anyone else in the competition to sing it and tell me if there’s someone who could outdo her version. I could only imagine Jessica singing Power of Love and bringing the house down! Does America and The Judges have ears? There’s a difference between a HIGH NOTE and a LOUD VOICE. SHOUTING doesn’t tantamount to SINGING A HIGH NOTE. Hollie Cavanagh almost broke her throat and cracked on the her last note. Transation in FILIPINO : PARANG PIPIYOK or PARANG PUMIYOK. Yet, her performance was labeled by JLo as “Saving the Best for Last”? Can anyone imagine Hollie singing The Prayer or I will Always Love You? Na-ah. Don’t even wanna go there… hahahaha…Skylar and Erika Van Pelt sure is way better than Hollie, for bleep’s sake! Listen with your ears….hehehe

I would want to believe what others are saying about Jessica not wining in AI. AMERICA IS NOT YET READY TO HAVE AN ASIAN, A FILIPINO, AN ASIAN-MEXICAN-AMERICAN AS AN IDOL. Suggestion to execs of AI, next time, don’t ask other people, esp other races living, working and PAYING TAXES IN AMERICA to come to any of your auditions. And change the name of the show to”STRICTLY FOR AMERICAN with a TRUE AMERICAN DESCENTS” IDOL!

2011 Summer Special Olympics : Pinoy athletes proved once again that we are the champions!!!

“Let me win, But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.”

It shamed me the greatest that I wasn’t able to cheer as for the Philippines special athletes much as I wanted for the 2011 Summer Special Olympics held in Athens, Greece last June.

I promised myself to personally watch the 2011 World Games four years ago, I was totally sold to the idea of scrimping and saving so I could fly all the way to Athens and cheer for my favorite athletes. But sad to say, I fall short on the saving department.  Unfortunately, apart from ESPN, there was no way I could watch the games in front of my telly to rally for victory.  So what I did was check Kaye Samson”s Facebook account on a day to day basis to keep me posted. Kaye Samson’ s the head coach of  the Badminton team.

I didn’t have the entire list of winners, so if anybody could give me names,  I would be very grateful and would edit this entry…

The Philippine Team brought home 49 medals in the recently concluded 2011 Summer Special Olympics held in Athens Grace. The team bagged 22 GOLD, 11 SILVER, and 16 BRONZE medals. We sent 38 athletes, yet yielded 49 medals! Congratulations to our athletes, their supportive families and hardworking and ever passionate coaches!
Andrew Dominic Lim 4th and Benrafii Tuazon Omar 3rd in Men’s Singles (Badminton)

Ma Angelica C. Manzanares f4th and Anna E L Mahweng Se 2nd in Women’s Singles (Badminton)

Rythmic gymnastics team bagged 2 gold, 3 silver, and 1 bronze medals
Luis John Decolongon, 22, won the gold and silver medals in the power lifting division.

Lemme quote Ms.  Samson,  ‘Thanks all… Team Philippines will be coming home singing to “Jingle Bells” sa dami ng mga medals….’

My Favorite Writer strikes again- YARA ALONSO’s second novel will be out soon!

Thank Heavens for Paper Bags

Can anyone be kind enough to enlighten me if we have any presidential decree or any approved bill regarding the use of paper bags in the Philippines? Because if there’s none and this initiative was because of fastfood chains and resto’s way of saving Mother Nature, then I highly commend them for a job well done. Despite other people’s negative reaction about paper bags’ easy deterioration (once soaked, they broke thing), I still think this idea is brilliant.

I was at the mall earlier with mother and niece Jellycia when, upon seeing brown paper bags @McDo, decided to have my orders “to go” instead of “for here”.
