Haay! Imagine the Philippines competing against tech giants like Japan, Korea and China??? Underdog di ba?
Kwidaw! Not at all! Kasi po our very own students from Grace Christian HighSchool in Batangas proved us otherwise! They emerged as Gold Medallists lang naman, as in GOLD MEDALISTS sa World Robotics Olympiad! And this is not pure luck, because we actually bagged the Gold Medal last year in the Open Category, so tayo ang may hawak ng korona or defending champion. Kung maaalala ninyo ‘yong cafeteria serving Kapeng Barako na puro robots, that was last year’s entry from FAITH (First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities) na nanalo nga ng Gold Medal last year. This year, Grace Christian Highschool came up with Operation Security Guaranteed, a city diorama that has groups of security robots to secure the city from terorists’ attacks. Di ba bongga!? The team was composed of Bryan Lao, Alyssa Sheena Tan and Mark Ian Tan. And simula pa lang yan! Marami pang darating! Ramdam na ramdam ko na maghahakot pa tayo ng awards in the field of science and math in the coming years!
In lieu with this, another pride from Rizal National High School, won 2nd in the Third Water Rocket Event of the 14th Session of the Asia Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF) held in India last month as well. He is John Lorenzo A. Yambot. Hindi ko masyadong naintindihan pero eto iyong objective ng contest ayon sa DOST : “The objective of the contest is for the competitor to design a rocket that would travel within 56 to 59 meters from the launch point. The team that reaches the zone gets a full 100 points for the fete. Going beyond or below this zone would mean lower points for the contestant. Contestants are provided two-liter PET bottles, tools, nozzles and launchers for the construction of the rocket”. Na-gets ninyo ba?
I think it’s about time na pag-aralan ng gobyerno nang mabuti kung paano hahatiin ang national budget. And truly, education should’ve a big chunk along with health services. Mas maganda rin na mabigyan ng recognition lahat ng athletes natin at magkaroon ng maraming incentives — both ‘yong mga normal and special athletes, not to mention the coaches. Well going back to this robotics chenes, nakaka-inspire talaga ang mga bata which fueled my interest to join the academe as a teacher (Hindi naman po sa sinasabi kong magaling ako but I wanna help kasi the academe). They don’t only bring pride but also hope, hope na one day Filipinos would make it to the top; and honestly, I think we’re getting there!
Imagine ang sunud-sunod na honor na binibigay ng mga Pinoy — in the academe, sports, music, etc… May hope pa talaga! Truly this is a country, not just of beautiful people with good values, not just a place worth a thousand praises for it’s beautifull places but also home of great talents!!!
Mabuhay lahat ng Pinoy sa buong bundo! Winners talaga ang lahing kayumanggi!
